Oct 20-23 Nikki McClure’s talk was fantastic. Critical messages: work, don’t wait for permission to make, work, be a part of your community, work, start the day with sweeping to clear your head, work. This is a paper Nikki keeps in her studio near her worktable. Written by Sister Corita Kent, the messages here guide Nikki’s life, and ones I am thinking about quite a bit since her talk.

Oct 23 It’s that time here in Portland where yellow bits of leaves fill the streets and are lovely because the rain hasn’t yet turned them to sludge, and the setting darkness in the early evening (earlier each day) makes them glow in Ladd’s Addition.

Not really sure whether Fox Fence is painting around the letters or painting over a new wall color. Either way, the work in progress caught my eye.
