Dec 29-31 Closing down the year… .
Dec 30 Always fun, colorful things to look at in Kate, Clifton, Nicole and Will’s HQ at ADX. Picked up prints from Nicole - (posted earlier in year) This WASH STORY tag on a GAP shirt cracks me up. Back in the 70s and 80s, you had to wash anything you received from India because the dyes would rub off, run in the laundry, etc. Washing the garment by hand in cold salt water, letting it drip dry, then ironing it before wearing was a given. Clothes bought in the US were ready-to-wear. Now the Gap is pitching this issue of unfixed dyes as “authentic.” Who knew this is what authenticity could mean?!
Dec 31 A lovely end to the year. Mani at home with Thing 1 and her cousin using these amazing nail brush/pen polishes that Christy gave her for Christmas. Pedi at Dosha with Samantha. Then dinner at Vindalho with Rahul, Anjulie and all our kids. Was d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s as always. Moon nearly impossible to shoot with my camera, but it was slightly visible through the cloud cover.
And there it is. 2011 in photos. A blog started in part because I was craving a personal creative outlet - in part because Clifton (Burt) threatened to start one for me if I didn’t get one going - and in part to learn to use this Sony Cybershot camera. Kate (Bingaman-Burt) was an inspiration with her daily drawings; the practice of a daily photo entry made me look at things around me in a new way, and was much more acheivable than daily journal writing. Scott and his dad were inspiration throughout the year with their ongoing interest in photography. And Katy Tasheff’s Facebook group provided an ongoing outlet for sharing pictures. So special thanks to all of you.
My plan is to keep this project going with some twists here and there. Plan to continue to use the Sony, but also trying out Dad’s Panasonic DMC-FZ28 as a step up (not ready to tackle Scott’s camera a-t a-l-l… ) Ended with Ellie because she keeps us all entertained, is so damned cute, and because you can’t go wrong if you throw in a picture of a dog to start off a lecture, blog, and a New Year. Happy New Year everyone!
